Ingredients

  • 5 lbs potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 1 cup butter, divided
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Β½ tsp black pepper
  • Β½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes until tender, then drain and mash them with Β½ cup of butter and milk until smooth and creamy. Season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  2. Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until fully melted and incorporated into the mashed potatoes.
  3. Preheat your oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9Γ—13-inch baking dish with the remaining butter.
  4. Spread the cheesy mashed potato mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
