Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound fresh scallops
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lemon, juiced
Instructions
- Prepare the scallops by rinsing them under cold water and patting them dry. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a frying pan, heat 2 tablespoons of butter and a splash of olive oil over medium heat, then add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute. Stir in chopped basil and remove from heat.
- In the same pan, heat the remaining butter over medium-high heat. Sear the scallops for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown, only flipping once.
- Drizzle the garlic basil butter over the scallops, toss gently, and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top. Serve immediately on warmed plates.
Notes
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- This dish pairs well with salad, roasted asparagus, or creamy risotto.
- Dry-packed scallops are recommended for better flavor and sear quality.
- Frozen scallops should be thawed and dried before cooking.
