Ingredients
- All-purpose flour: 3 cups
- Granulated sugar: 1/2 cup
- Instant yeast: 2 1/4 teaspoons (1 packet)
- Salt: 1/2 teaspoon
- Milk: 1 cup
- Butter: 1/4 cup (melted)
- Eggs: 2 large
- Cinnamon: 2 tablespoons
- Brown sugar: 1/2 cup, packed
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
- In a separate saucepan, heat milk and butter until butter is melted. Let cool slightly, then add to the dry ingredients along with the eggs. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Once the dough has doubled, gently punch it down. On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into a large rectangle.
- In a small bowl, mix together cinnamon and brown sugar. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough up tightly and pinch the seam to seal.
- Place the rolled dough into a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC) and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use fresh yeast for the best rise.
- Ensure your milk and butter mixture is cooled slightly before adding it to the dry ingredients to avoid killing the yeast.
- Donโt skip the second rise; it contributes to a lighter, fluffier bread.
- For an extra touch, drizzle a simple glaze over the cooled bread.
- Add chopped nuts such as pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon sugar filling.
- Include a layer of cream cheese filling for an even more decadent treat.
- Mix in some raisins or dried cranberries for added texture and flavor.
- Top with a simple powdered sugar glaze or cream cheese frosting once cooled.
