Description

Homemade Flaky Croissants are buttery and delicious pastries that provide a delightful breakfast experience. Enjoy the aroma and flaky texture of these golden croissants that you can easily make from scratch!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, salt, and yeast in a large bowl; add cold milk and mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  2. Roll out the dough, place chilled butter in the center, and fold the dough over it to seal.
  3. Roll and fold the dough multiple times, then cut into triangles and shape into croissants.
  4. Let croissants rise, brush with egg wash, and bake in a preheated oven until golden brown.

Notes

  • Store croissants in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature.
  • For longer storage, wrap and freeze; reheat in the oven to restore flakiness.
  • Add herbs to the dough for a unique flavor twist.
