- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
- 1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- Optional: 1 cup frozen peas or mixed vegetables
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350Β°F (175Β°C). Grease a 9Γ13 inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until the beef is no longer pink and the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat. Season with salt and pepper.
- Cook the egg noodles according to package directions. Drain well.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked egg noodles, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Mix well.
- Add the browned ground beef to the noodle and cheese mixture. If using, add frozen peas or mixed vegetables. Stir until well combined.
- Pour the mixture into the greased baking dish. Spread evenly and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
