- Make the Dough: Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit until foamy. Add olive oil, salt, and gradually add flour, mixing until a shaggy dough forms. Knead on a floured surface until smooth and elastic.
- Assemble and Proof the Bread: Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled. Punch down the dough. Roll into a rectangle, spread cooled cabbage filling, leaving a border. Roll into a log and pinch seams. Place seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover and let proof for another 30 minutes.
- Bake the Cabbage Bread: Preheat oven to 375Β°F (190Β°C). Brush the top of the loaf with beaten egg. Bake until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped. Let cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
