Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup bourbon BBQ sauce
- 4 sub rolls
- 8 slices of crispy bacon
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Roll the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter, yielding approximately 12-14 meatballs.
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the meatballs for about 10 minutes until browned, turning occasionally.
- Add bourbon BBQ sauce to the meatballs in the last 3-4 minutes of cooking to allow flavors to meld.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly toast sub rolls in the oven for 3-5 minutes.
- Assemble subs by layering 2-3 meatballs in each roll, topping with bacon and cheddar cheese, then return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes to melt the cheese.
Notes
- Leftover subs can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- Meatballs can be stored and reheated separately from the rolls for optimal freshness.
- Customize toppings with sautéed onions, jalapeños, or different cheeses.
